November 1 - November 5

Autumn brings falling leaves and pumpkin seeds!

**PUMPKINS ARE DUE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST**

**FORT TOULOUSE FIELD TRIP FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH**

Here are a few pictures of the children enjoying our FOSS Kit on Electricity and Magnetism.  I thought you might like to see what they are doing since you won't see their Science book for a while.  This week we discussed the behavior of magnets and measured their force.  You'll find our academic plans after the pictures.

The kids are separating items into two groups: "things that will stick to magnets" and "things that will not stick to magnets."  Some interesting discoveries were made.

The kids are testing whether or not a magnet can attract
iron/steel through other materials.

The kids are learning about how "temporary magnets"
are made through "induced magnetism."

The kids are testing how distance affects the force of a magnet.

October 25 - October 29

Hello everyone!

Well, my internet was misbehaving this weekend.  Therefore, I wasn't able to update our blog.  Better late than never, I suppose!  If you ever have internet problems and your child isn't able to complete assignments using the internet, never fear!  A quick note will explain everything.  I know the internet can be pesky at times.

I've just added a new feature to the blog which will allow you to receive an email when I have added a new post.  All you have to do is click on the link and add your email address!  It is that easy... or... that's what I'm hoping!

Folders went home today with new papers and the information sheet about wristbands for the Fall Carnival on Friday.  Also, the kids should have taken their Bible Guides home for you sign and a History daily grade.  You will need to sign each of these separately.

In Science last week, we started our FOSS kit on Electricity and Magnetism.  This kit is loads of fun and very educational.  Since we will be using the kit, we will not be using the book.  Therefore, make-up work in Science will be a bit more difficult as the kids will have to be in school to learn the information.

November 1st: Pumpkin due
