Greetings and Salutations!!

Well, we have the first two and a half days under our belts.  I've decided to declare them a success.  I'm predicting many hilarious stories and priceless quotes!!  Here are a few pictures.

Our week in academia...

Spelling: Unit 1 Test on Wednesday...  I've entered all of our spelling words for the year onto spellingcity.com.  This is a great site for spelling practice!  I showed everyone how to use it today.

Reading: The Boys Start the War chapters 3-12... We will be working on the following skills: cause and effect and sequencing.

Language: Unit 1 p. 32-39

Bible: Lesson 1 daily grade on Friday... The kids will have to put the books of the Old Testament in order.  They will not have to say or spell them correctly.  They should also study the questions in the lesson.

Math: Chapter 1 p. 4-11 "value and position of the digit"

Science: Chapter 1 classification system

History: Chapter 1 p. 3-7

Hello everyone!!

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!  I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this year!  Please check back here for weekly updates about assignments and other things we are getting into.  This week we are going to focus on getting to know one another and the subjects we will be studying.  Feel free to subscribe to this blog, which will allow you to receive email notification when it has been updated.  You will find the link to subscribe over on the right.  I can't wait to spend the year with you!  Have a wonderful week!!

May 9-13th

Hello everyone!

Can you believe this is the last full week of school?  My, how time flies!  Please have your child look through their room to see if anything needs to be returned to school.

Folders will go home on Tuesday with a grade sheet.

Monday, May 9th: AR deadline and Famous Alabamian speech for a grade
Friday, May 13th: Wax Museum... AND last day lunch will be served

• Parents are welcome to come to the museum at 2:00 on Friday afternoon.  The museum will be open until 2:30, at which time, the students may be dismissed.  While viewing the statues, please don't talk to the children.  We have had many discussions concerning how statues act.  They have been instructed not to break character, which is difficult when people are talking to you. :)

Monday, May 16th: Semester Celebration (1/2 day)

Tuesday, May 17th: Field Day (1/2 day)

I can't believe that our time together is coming to a close.  I have had a wonderful time with your children this year.  It is such a joy to teach clever and witty children.  Their comic timing is spot on.  They made it a pleasure to come to work every day!  I'm going to miss them tremendously.  However, here's a little secret... I never really let go.  They are mine forever!  Have a wonderful summer!

Reading: House on the Gulf... last day to take an AR test for the 9 weeks is Monday, May 9th.

Bible: the Battle of Jericho

Math: fractions

Science: Chapter 12

History: working on our Wax Museum... They will be graded on their speech Monday, May 9th.  They WILL need to have their costume that day.

FIELD TRIP TO CAPITOL ON TUESDAY!

The children received information about the Famous Alabamian Wax Museum.  They have an information sheet as well as the name of their Famous Alabamian.  They will need a costume.  I know they are going to do a great job!

Reading: finishing The Mysterious Benedict Society 
Language: Unit 7 "Adverbs"
Math: division with 2-digit divisors
Bible: Joshua 5:13 - Joshua 8
Science: Chapter 12 "physical and chemical changes"
History: daily grade on the last part of the Civil War on Wednesday

Greetings!

Well, we have finally reached testing week.  Don't forget a good night's rest and healthy breakfast are key for doing superior work!  A Spelling test will be the only test given this week.  However, we will do our best to work in other subjects as our afternoons permit.  We do have the dissection of owl pellets to look forward to on Wednesday.  Have a splendidly marvelous day!

p.s. Don't forget we will get out of school early on Friday, April 8th at 11:30.
