What did you do this afternoon? You'll have to ask your child what I did tomorrow. It's one of those stories that kids love hearing from their teacher. I leave you with this clue... It has to do with a green county trashcan and a fence. Anyway, here's a look at our week...
Spelling: Unit 7 Wednesday... We will be skipping the review lessons (multiples of 6) this year. This will allow us to take a break from Spelling the last week of each nine weeks.
Reading: We will be reading the stories in our anthology from Theme 1, "Journeys". The skills we will be working on are story structure, author's viewpoint, text organization, and noting details. We have also been working on these skills with the novel we just finished, Wanted... Mud Blossom. We will continue working on them in our next novel, A Dog Called Kitty.
Language: We finished our "time travelin'" stories. The kids did a great job working facts from our chapter into their story. We will move on to Unit 2, Nouns, next.
Math: Chapter 4 "Use Addition and Subtraction" Our test for this chapter will be completely word problems. We will spend a day or two on basic review and then concentrate on word problems. I will give the kids a form to use to "break down" the word problems. This should help them slow down and think about what the question is really asking.
Bible: Noah and the Flood... Tomorrow the kids should bring home their Bible Guide for you to sign Lesson 4. Many parents ask exactly how the students go about filling out the Bible Guide. For each lesson, we read the Bible together, discuss it, and high-light important passages in the Bible. Then, the students use the Bible to fill out their Bible Guide. Usually this will be a grade. If a lesson is ever graded without being given prior notice to study, the students will always be allowed to use their Bible.
Science: Chapter 3
History: Chapter 3 test Tuesday... then on to Chapter 4
Have a great week!!
